Frequently asked questions
What should I wear to my appointment?
For Reflexology, you will need to be able to remove foot wear, so preferably no tights.
For Aromatherapy Massage, you will need to remove clothes down to your underwear, don't worry I'll keep you cozied up in towels the whole time. Wear something you will feel comfy and easy to change into- think relaxing!!
*NB* Since I use essential oils, this might linger on your skin, so its a good idea to wear clothes you don't mind oil transferring on.
For Reiki and Crystal Therapy, there are no specific requests, just wear what you feel comfortable in.
I would recommend removing and leaving jewellery at home.
How often should I book?
The frequency of your therapy sessions is entirely at your discretion. Many of my clients enjoy the regular routine of a monthly massage.
With Reflexology, clients have reported significant benefit when booking weekly sessions for 6 sessions, then switching to monthly maintenance visits.

Is Reflexology safe during pregnancy?
Yes, Reflexology is considered safe to have during pregnancy. I avoid working around the reproductive reflexes during the first trimester and use gentle pressure.
Does Reflexology hurt?
Most people find the experience to be deeply relaxing and enjoyable. Sometimes a point on your foot might feel tender or sore. Make sure to communicate any tenderness so that I can record it.
Will I need to go through a consultation on every visit?
No, after the initial consultation, there will be no need to go through another consultation unless there has been a significant time passed since your last treatment.
For regular clients I like to check in every now and again to make sure everything is up to date.
Otherwise the time required before will be used for treatment planning, EO choosing and discussing preferences etc.
Is Aromatherapy safe for everyone?
Mainly, yes. However certain circumstances may require caution or avoidance. This will be discussed during the consultation process. In most cases it is about navigating the best oils for you.
What are the potential side effects of Aromatherapy?
Side effects are rare but may include skin irritation or allergic reactions. Inhalation of essential oils may also trigger respiratory sensitivities in some individuals. Certain citrus oils can increase photosensitivity, making the skin more susceptible to sunburn. It's crucial to inform me about any sensitivities or allergies.
Interesting fact... if you have an allergic reaction to an essential oil, dilute it by rubbing the area with oil or a natural butter e.g. Shea butter.
Oil and water don't mix, so washing it in water alone doesn't help.
Why do you need to know about the medication I take?
There are several reasons. Here, I'll try and explain a few...
If you take PRN medication and you become unwell during your appointment, I'll need to understand how best to support you- this might require having medication nearby e.g. diabetics, angina, epileptics.
Potential Drug Interactions: Essential oils can either enhance or inhibit the effects of certain medications.
Enzyme Induction/Inhibition: Many medications are metabolised by specific enzymes in the body. Some essential oils can influence the activity of these enzymes, potentially speeding up or slowing down the medication's breakdown and affecting its efficacy or even causing side effects
Shared Effects: Some essential oils have properties similar to certain medications. For example, some oils can have blood-thinning or sedative effects. Combining them with medications that have similar actions could lead to amplified effects or adverse reactions.
Specific Contraindications: Certain essential oils are known to be contraindicated with particular medications or medical conditions.
For instance, essential oils like wintergreen and sweet birch, which contain methyl salicylate (an aspirin-like compound), should be avoided by individuals on blood-thinning medications like Warfarin due to potential bleeding risks.
Similarly, certain citrus oils can increase photosensitivity and should be used with caution, especially with medications that already cause photosensitivity.
Some essential oils are contraindicated during pregnancy or with certain conditions like epilepsy or high blood pressure.
